Over years of development, SFLS is now rich in teaching resources and scientific research achievements. It has advanced language labs including package for simultaneous interpretation system and a Japanese culture experience room. With approval of the university authorities, SFLS set up the Research Centre for Foreign Language & Literature, which has been orientated itself gradually in the research fields of George Orwell, children’s literature and translation, applied linguistics and TCM translation and culture communication. According to statistics, about 110 research projects have been funded by various resources, 12 books and 230 papers published in the past five years.
SFLS has been striving for international cooperation in education from the very start. Mutual friendly relations have been established with Tokoha University and Hokuriku University in Japan. The cooperative agreement initiated the “2+2” programme model, in which the applicants from SFLS are permitted to complete the first two years of study in their home institution and then transfer to the designated university to finish their final two years and, upon completion of all the courses and if requirements of both sides met, will be conferred double B.A. degrees. Besides, a dozen of collegiate exchange student programs provide the students each year with exciting oversea experience as well as transfer credits.
